The popular Pop Tart!
Finally a recipe easier than that Thomas Keller one! Geeze! I know at this point doing a Home Made Pop-Tart post is sorta like doing a Whoopie Pie or Cupcake post, but there's a reason these things are so popular. A delicious reason.
Bento Basics #1
Sooo I'm a little into bentos right now. I've been wanting to try making nice bento lunches for a while, but I haven't had the time or kitchen space before. It's actually a nice way to start the day, by getting up a little earlier and assembling a healthy meal (normally I can get away with sleeping until 15 minutes before I have to leave for work, as long as I shower the night before. My make up is simple, and my hair is usually pretty plain). Somehow carrying a lunchbox with cartoon characters on it to work makes me feel a little more adult 8D

Recently Around Town
I've cut way WAY back on eating out since moving into a new apartment and more than doubling the size of my kitchen, but this week in particular has been a good one for going out for food. Here are some highlights!
The "Angry Mussels" from JCT Kitchen that inspired my own Manly Mussels, as well as a bowl of truffled parmesan fries. This was such an amazing lunch. My friend had their great fried chicken, while I had a bowl of their Potato and Vidalia soup, which had an adorable goat cheese fritter floating in it (couldn't get a great shot of it with my phone, believe it or not). Normally I can't really do goat cheese, but it perfectly complemented the soup. YUM.
The fried peach pies we had for dessert were the perfect finish to the meal. By itself, the pie was a little ho-hum, but the caramel sauce and home made vanilla ice cream really brought it together. I might really be biased towards the Fried Apple Pie at H&F though... still probably the best pie I've ever had.

The simplest Thomas Keller recipe ever. Ever.
So simple I made a comic about it. After a long, hungry day at work, for whatever reason, I came home, saw what we had that had to be used up, and decided to make something that I wouldn’t be able to eat until the next day. Whatever, it’s totally worth it.
